Dewanganj Government Technical School and College is a reputed technical education institution. Pakistan began its journey with two trades called Vocational Training Institutes (VTIs) on 1st January 1966 for the expansion of technical education. Its journey started with two trades called Farm Machinery and Machinist to provide hands-on technical education. 2 Year Trade Course has been doing its training program with reputation to meet the needs of the country and abroad for skill enhancement. Skilled manpower is required to meet domestic and foreign demand. As the existing 51 VTIs are not able to meet the demand, 13 more VTIs were set up in the first term of the present government in 1996 in all the districts that do not have VTIs or TTCs and instead of the existing trade courses, 2-year S. S. C (Vocational) and H. S. C (Vocational) course was introduced. Both the courses are equivalent to SSC (Science) and HSC (Science) respectively. As a result, students who passed out from this institution can study in Diploma in Engineering (4th Phase)/ B.Sc Engineering/ Honors Course after HSC (Vocational) Pass. Moreover, he qualified to work as a technician in the job market.


The education curriculum has been modernized to suit the 4th Industrial Revolution (4IR). Competency based curriculum has already been introduced to meet that demand. Moreover, the quality of education and training is maintained.


The institution is located in Ward No. 9 of Dewanganj Municipality under Dewanganj Upazila of Jamalpur District. Dewanganj Jilbangla Sugar Mill to the east and Yamuna River to the west. It is situated in Kalikapur (Charabbasur) Mauza. It occupies 4.05 acres of land and is surrounded by a high stone wall. It is National Assembly Constituency (Jamalpur-1) and National Number 138. JSC (Vocational), SSC (Vocational) and HSC (Vocational) courses are running in this. It has a 3 storied academic building, 4 workshops, 1 science lab, 1 ICT lab, mosque with about 25 classrooms, playground, Shaheed Minar, garden. In addition, a new 5-storey academic building is being constructed.
